The Indian Army is going to participate in the multination exercise, ZAPED, which is going to be held in Russia from Friday (3-16 September). Along with China and Pakistan, armies of more than a dozen countries are going to take part in this exercise.
The Naga Battalion of the Indian Army will participate in this exercise going to be held in Russia Nezhni. A contingent of 200 soldiers of the Naga Battalion is participating in the exercise. To take part in this exercise, the Naga Battalion had to undergo rigorous training. One of Russia’s four major exercises, the Naga battalion will take part in all military drills in Zaped. These drills include Mechanized Operations, Airborne and Heliborne, Counter Terrorism and Combat-Conditioning and Firing. Let us tell you that the Naga Battalion is the newest regiment of the Indian Army.
Armies of Eurasia and South-Asia are also participating in the exercise
According to the official statement issued by the Indian Army, ZAPED-2021 is a theater-level exercise of the Russian Army in which operations against terrorists will be practiced. The armies of more than a dozen countries of Eurasia and South-Asia are participating in this exercise. These include the armies of countries like Belarus, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar apart from Russia and India. Observers from China and Pakistan will participate in this exercise.
The armies of China and Pakistan are also going to participate in the SCO Military Exercise going to be held in Russia this month. Significantly, Russia conducts four theater-label exercises every year. Russia has also been inviting allied armies in these exercises. Apart from this, the armies of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries have also been exercising in Russia, in which the Indian Army also participates.
