Mehbooba Mufti targeted the Center, said – claims of equal rights in Kashmir are white lies

Jammu Kashmir News: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said the Centre’s claim that the people of Jammu and Kashmir now have equal rights is a “white lie”. He said that the ease with which the government imposes total closure every time fearing the backlash of the people in the Valley is extremely painful and extremely senseless.

Mehbooba’s remarks came after the authorities on Wednesday night, soon after the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, shut down mobile telephone services except BSNL’s postpaid services and internet services except BSNL broadband.

Mehbooba wrote on Twitter, “The dubious claim of the Government of India that the people of Jammu and Kashmir now have equal rights is a white lie. The fact is that even their basic human rights, whether living or dead, have been suspended.

The former chief minister of the erstwhile state said the ease with which the Indian government enforces a “complete shutdown” including the communication network shutdown in Kashmir every time fearing a backlash from the people in the Valley, is extremely painful and extremely senseless.

“His audacity to create an atmosphere of fear to quell feelings is harmful as emotions do not dissipate in the air. These feelings of deceit and anger get ingrained and passed on from one generation to another.

The PDP president claimed that instead of reaching out to all, one after the other policy is made to give collective punishment to Jammu and Kashmir.
